5 Ways To Be Kind To Yourself

5 Ways To Be Kind To Yourself
We are living in a time of go go go, always living for the next thing, and endlessly checking off that to-do list. It begins to feel uncomfortable to sit in silence, to pause and close our eyes, to have a moment of simply being. To be kind to ourselves.

Letting go, focusing solely on breathing in and out, even for a moment, is a great way to be kind to yourself. Focusing on your breath will begin a chain reaction inside your body. Your central nervous system will slowly begin to calm, all of your nerves that are standing at alert, will begin to lay down-calmed and soothed-allowing your awareness to take over. Set a timer, even for 5 minutes and work with your awareness, strengthen it a little everyday or throughout your day. Focusing on your breathing is a huge way to be kind to yourself. Giving yourself that moment of space inside and out.

Having a check-in moment throughout the day is a powerful way to be kind to yourself. Asking yourself questions such as, how am I feeling, what is my body feeling or where are my thoughts right now-are all great ways to check in. Bringing your awareness back inside, where everything is truly happening. Sift through and find, possibly label, how you’re feeling. Get really clear on who/what you’re giving your energy to. This process is an amazing way to show yourself compassion and love. Check-ins with yourself will build a solid foundation of love and sovereignty within.

A really great way to be kind to yourself, calm the mind, relax the body and soothe the nervous system is doing an activity with intention. One of my favorites is the act of coloring. Before beginning, say to yourself, “I’m taking this time to relax my mind, to create and focus fully on my awareness in this moment.” Any activity that you love to do can be used in this way. Set the intention. Relax into it. Maintain awareness. Repeat. Intention work is a perfect way to be kind to your self.

Another great way to be kind to yourself is to make that appointment. Book that special something that you’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Make a promise to yourself and keep it. Get your hair done, get your nails done, get a massage whatever it is that you’ve been waiting to do. Book it.

And last, but certainly not least, spend some time outdoors. Take your dog on that walk, even if you have loads of laundry stacked up and you just wanna get through it. Pause. The second you step outside and start to walk your nervous system begins to calm, your thoughts calm, and your body steps into a different state. This is an excellent way to connect, to come back to center and to step back into sovereignty.

I hope at least one of these five simple ways of being kind to yourself gives you tool to throw in your toolbox. Life is such an amazing experience, slowing down to a halt will open us up to SO many blessings!
